Global Warning

Recently, I went to a hi-tea at Tropicana. My parents were out of town, so I had to settle my own transport. No need to say how I got there, but as a precaution, I went on Google Earth and drew up a map. I found that Digital Globe and Terrametrics are satellite companies that give out really clear images of the earth. See details of up to an object the size of a car. Today…

…I had the thought of a saying I remembered from someone’s blog “the north pole is already an island”. I tried to see how much of a fact this is. So I Google Earth’d it, and found this…

northpole2

It’s not even there anymore. This is an image by Terrametrics taken in 2008. Not sure about the date because it’s actually a mix of several images. It’s hard to make out what’s even left of the Arctic Circle, the oceans were just large blue blocks. Correct me if I’m wrong about what happens at the North Pole would happen at the South Pole. Well, I took a look at the South Pole, and this is what came up…

southpole

I’m amazed at how well the South Pole is surviving this. The line across the land mass is actually a measurement I took with the GE ruler. That’s about 3,500 miles long. As a reference, Peninsula Malaysia is only 440 miles from the Thailand border to the shores of Johor. So, explain to me how a land mass like the North Pole disappeared off the map but the South Pole is still large enough to fit Australia on top of it. Then I looked at the people who supplied the image. It was provided by USGS, NSF, NASA and BAS. Though, I’m a guy who hardly watches the news, so I wouldn’t know what half of those initials would stand for. I did just a tiny bit of research and found USGS and NSF is government related. For some reason, I get the feeling that this is some kind of conspiracy that the government is trying to prove that global warming is a myth.

This is one of the reasons I wonder what would’ve happened if Al Gore won the election instead of Bush. I watched that movie Recount with my dad. If that was a true story, Gore should’ve won and the world would probably be a different place now.

Half the Amazon Rainforest to be Lost by 2030
    ———————————————————————-
(NaturalNews) Due to the effects of global warming and deforestation, more than half of the Amazon rainforest may be destroyed or severely damaged by the year 2030, according to a report released by the World Wildlife Fund (WWF).

The report, “Amazon’s Vicious Cycles: Drought and Fire,” concludes that 55 percent of the world’s largest rainforest stands to be severely damaged from agriculture, drought, fire, logging and livestock ranching in the next 22 years. Another 4 percent may be damaged by reduced rainfall caused by global warming. This is anticipated to destroy up to 80 percent of wildlife habitat in the region.
